Fixture selection

Choosing hardware that serves each layer — Ambient, Task, Accent — with dimming and Swiss install in mind.

Layer stack

Ambient — room fill
Task — work surfaces
Accent — edges and objects

Schedule before shopping

We write lumen, beam, IP, and dimming notes first. You buy at public CHF prices from suppliers you choose. Substitutions are checked for driver compatibility so a pretty shade does not ruin a scene.

Ambient fittings

Wall grazers, shallow flush mounts, and uplights that bounce from pale ceilings. Low glare matters in long Grossbasel living rooms where screens and dining share one volume.

Task fittings

Linear under-cabinet, adjustable arms, and mirror lights with sensible colour rendering. We measure cabinet depths and mirror width on site rather than ordering from memory.

Accent and outdoor

Small shielded wall lights and porch fittings sized for building rules. Finishes stay quiet on shared facades. Aiming diagrams reduce spill to neighbours and the street.

What we refuse to specify

Undimmable LEDs on circuits meant to scene, bare high-glare spots over sofas, and outdoor floods that light three flats at once. If a favourite product fails the layer plan, we say so and offer a working alternate.
